Depends on its size. people with breathing problems have a small portable oxygen tank, hospitals may have a very large tank for the whole hospital, welders have an intermediate size tank for oxy-acetylene torches.

When a cylinder of oxygen is left standing in the sun the temperature of the gas reaches 42 and deg C. The cylinder has a volume of 10 liters and contains 8 moles of oxygen. What is the pressure atmos?

The pressure is 20,68 at.

Does oxygen has fixed volume?

no, no gas does, it depends on temperature and pressure.

Why is oxygen gas usually stored under pressure in metal cylinder?

It can exploded.

What happens if a piston is used to decrease the volume of a contained gas?

The volume will increase as the piston moves downward. If the cylinder is sealed and the gas can not escape, the pressure in the cylinder will decrease. If the cylinder has a small opening as in a motor, the higher pressure outside will push in air that will mix with fuel to ignite when the spark plug is fired. (Supv note: it is not possible to have negative pressure. You can have zero pressure but not a deficit.)

A metal cylinder contains 1 mol of nitrogen gas what will happen to the pressure if another mole of gas is added to the cylinder but the temperature and volume do not change?

The pressure would double in size.

If the volume of the cylinder is reduced from 8.0 liters to 4.0 liters what should be the pressure of the gas in the cylinder?

If the volume is reduced, and all else remains the same, then the pressure will increase by a factor of 2, or it will double.

What happened to volume of a gas inside a cylinder if the temperature does not change but the pressure is reduced?

Assuming your cylinder is fixed and has something like a piston allowing for potential movement, the volume will remain the same. The gas will become less densed, as with pressure its more dense.

140 kilopascals.
