the junction lasers principle is like a normal laser but a specific junction will activate it. This is good because if you are away from the where the laser is then you can activate it without being there.

population inversion is the fundamental requirement to produce laser.

laser has following basic components:

1.gain medium

2.RF energy

3.high reflector mirror

4.output coupler

principle: when energy is given to gain medium , electrons / particles acquired this energy and they excited from lower energy state to higher energy state.

when no of paticles / electrons are more in higher state than lower state, population inversion achived. light is amplified by itself and laser is produced.

What are the applications of junction lasers?

Applications of junction lasers are in terms of laser output beams as information carriers. Since this output beam needed to be modulated in terms of intensity, the junction laser is handy. The junction laser supplies regulated current.

Why did Aleksandr Mikhailovich Prokhorov win The Nobel Prize in Physics in 1964?

The Nobel Prize in Physics 1964 was divided, one half awarded to Charles Hard Townes for fundamental work in the field of quantum electronics, which has led to the construction of oscillators and amplifiers based on the maser-laser principle, the other half jointly to Nicolay Gennadiyevich Basov and Aleksandr Mikhailovich Prokhorov for fundamental work in the field of quantum electronics, which has led to the construction of oscillators and amplifiers based on the maser-laser principle.
