the mouse which happens to be desperaux becomes brave and saves the princess before she gets killed by the rats . because they wanted to get revenge on her for giving them the look that said to go back to the dungeon where you came from .he also saved the castle from being taken over by the rats.
The problem is that the princess pea is captured by Roscuro (rat) and had to go down to the dungeon with him so that princess pea can be chained to the walls and die, but lucky enough, despereaux comes and saves her!! yay! :)
Unfortunately, Despereaux does not live to see the end of his own story. After being lost in the castle dungeon for days on nights, Despereaux finally sees a light. At first he believes it is his guardian angel. Turns out it was Roscuro, the rat who was blamed for everything but was truly innocent, holding a match. By giving Despereaux a drink of pomegranate juice, Despereaux was able to go back to the human world to see his true human love. Sadly, Pea had been engaged to the Prince of Equa. Despereaux was heartbroken and, with the needle he always carried around with himself so he felt like a knight, ended his life with one quick movement of his little paw. With his own blood, Despereaux wrote his farewell letter to Pea, with all of his wishes for her to live a happy life, and closed his eyes forever. This is a very sad story and I advise you read this story with this warning in mind as it will give you a lot of sadness and misery. You could always try something a little less depressing like "The Elves At Santa's Workshop" or "Autumn Winds" both of which are stories that have a happy ending. I hope this summary allows you the ability to finish your assignment without actually having to read this dreadful tale about a mouse hero who died very, very young and how true love can really break your heart.
