The master boot record is the very first piece of code executed from the hard drive. The MBR is expected to simply discover the active partition on the drive, and then load and run its boot sector, but other MBRs exist, for example LILO, which loads a Linux kernel directly, and Smart Boot Manager, which allows the user to choose which partition to boot.
The Master Boot Record is occupied by code in how your start up process is on your computer. The MBR as it is sometimes referred to for abbreviation. It simply follows a set of parameters To start up your computer in your operating system.

Master Boot Record program
The master boot record (MBR) is a small program stored in the first sector of a hard drive that contains information about how the drive is partitioned and which partition is bootable. It is crucial for the system to locate the operating system and boot it up.
There is the Master Boot Record and a Primary Partition in which can be formatted in NTFS or FAT32. There is also what is called platters on the hard drive which has two sides divided up into what looks like a record -- called tracks, and each track is divided into sectors.
If the MBR for the primary boot drive is corrupted, you can recover simply by rewriting the MBR (master boot record) on the hard drive.
