If we didn't have free will the existence of the whole earth would be pointless. Humans would be controlled by God in a robotic structure, if God would stupidly create humans without free will. God would just be controlling people's acts and moving them around like a video game. If God created humans without free will we would not understand what we are doing and we wouldn't have a thought process even to be morally good. God gave us free will because he loves us and so that we can use the talents he has gave us to enjoy life and give glory to him. The reason why we are all here on earth is because God has brought us here.

What is the reason god gave us free will? not what is the reason why. God didn't give us free will because he doesn't exist. People have free will because it is a natural right. The belief in a greater being is for the weak, gullible, and those who always need an answer. Who created the big bang? I don't know but I don't care. It doesn't matter. Why would I need to know something that happened before people were alive? Do you need an answer to this question? No. It is like x=y+w. Without knowing the variables (evidence/proof) you cannot find the answer.

God gave us free will because he wants us to live life the way we want to. God checks if we are using our freedom in the right or wrong direction. That's one reason we have a the angel and devil. So god can evaluate wheater you will choose to do the right or wrong thing.

A:

All living things have free choice, except of course when captured or domesticated. So, just like all other sentient species on earth, we have the privilege of choice. Should we have less freedom than dumb animals?

No. Evil is the absence of good. God did not create evil...we made evil, and unfortunately for God, He gave us free will, so everything evil in this world has been chosen by us.

Do we have a free will?

Yes, Petrarch argued quite successfully that foreknowledge by God does not eliminate free will. To put it in the simplest of terms I will use a scene from Futurama. (silly yes but it gets right to the point.) Bender meets God and talks with him and it goes like this... Bender : So, you know what I'm going to do before I do it? God: Yes Bender: What if I do something else? God: Then I don't know that. Probably the biggest reason God gave us free will is Holy Boredom. The hope that we WILL do something that he doesn't know.
