basically you need minimum of 6 weeks rest.. you can add another 4 weeks but that depends upon your extent of fracture.. but to be able to walk properly you will need 12 weeks and to run a total of 20 weeks.. !! get well soon... (i know this cause i have undergone a major fracture in tibia and febula bones..)
I broke shattered my left tibia, had 3 screws inserted on July 5th 2008, was in a full leg cast 6 weeks, walking boot for 3, and today, Sept. 7th, I can walk without any real pain. Feels stiff, but should be good to go in 2-3 more weeks.
It's a late answer but maybe, if posted over the internet will help other people.
I have suffered an undisplaced fibula fracture above the ankle while skating and my doctor has adviced not to cast the leg but to wear a walking boot from the very begining. I got an "Air inflated" one and after one week i feel ok. Of course i do not put weight in the respective leg at all and move with crutches, but I go to the office and hope in a faster recovery than casting.
REgards
I had a bad accident in November 2008 and broke both fibulas and my right tibia. It is now late April 2009 and while I can certainly walk on both legs at pretty normal speed and ride a stationary bike, I am not fully recovered. I still have quite a bit of pain in the leg that had the broken tibia and I have not been cleared to run again by my orthopedist. Let me just say, it can be a very long recovery depending on the severity of the injury. I have an IM nail in my tibia and sometimes I wonder if that isn't actually causing some of the remaining pain. Originally my doctor said it would take about 10-12 months to be fully back to normal. Now I believe it.
Properly casted and rested, 6 weeks. Walk around stressing it, 11 weeks.
it depends on the severity and seriousness
It varys like when i had a broken tib fib it took bout a year and a half because mine got messed up and i had surgery but if yo dont have any messups like that it takes about a year
Treatment of a broken leg depends on the location and severity of the injury.
The bones will heal in about 6 to 8 weeks
The fibula is lateral to the tibia.
Fibula or Tibia?
The fibula is located lateral to the tibia. In overall anatomical position, the tibia is medial in the body, and the tibia lateral. Both are located in the lower leg. The tibia articulates with the patella proximally, the fibula laterally, and the talus distally.
The fibula is lateral to the tibia. The fibula is the smaller of the two lower leg bones.
The tibia is medial to the fibula. The tibia is the larger of the lower leg bones.
The two bones that makeup the lower leg are the Tibia and Fibula. The Fibula is the smallest bone of the two. It is located poterior (behind) the Tibia.
The medial malleolus is located on the tibia. The fibula forms the lateral malleolus.
The fibula is lateral to the tibia. The fibula is the smaller of the two lower leg bones.
The distal articulation of the tibia and fibula means the place where the tibia and fibula form a joint at the end of the bones farthest from the origin of the limb. The distal articulation of the tibia and fibula is with the talus.
