Kepler's laws are:

The orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci.

A line joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time.

The square of the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi-major axis of its orbit.

The third law relates the size of the orbit to the time taken to go round once, so Neptune with an orbit 30 times larger than the Earth takes 164 years to go round because 164 equals 30 to the power 1.5

Newton showed that these laws follow from his theory of gravity.

Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation

F=mGM/r2 (Or F=Gm1m2/r3)

derived Keplers Third Law

r3/t2

is equal to constant:

mGM/r2 = mv2/r gives GM = r3(2pi/t)2

Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion:

1] Each planet moves in an elliptical orbit with the sun at one focus

2] The line form the sun to any planet sweeps out equal areas of space in equal time intervals

3] The squares of the times of revolution (days, months or years) of the planets are proportional to the cubes of their average distances from the sun.

Which of Keplers laws is also known as the Harmonic Law?

It is the third law

Does Keplers third law fit each of the planets?

Technically it doesn't precisely fit any of them, but to a first approximation it fits not only each of the planets, but every other orbiting body everywhere.

Keplers law that describes how fast planets travel at different points in their orbits is called the law of?

This is known as Keplers 2nd Law of Planetary Motion. It states that line drawn between a planet and the sun sweeps out equal areas during equal time intervals.

Which of Keplers laws says how fast planets travel at different points in their orbit?

Kepler's second law the law of equal areas.

How did newtons work on orbits add to work Kepler had done?

Newton derived Keplars findings from Newton's Theory of Gravity. Thus, newton 'explained' the basis for Keplars findings and extended them.

What kind of orbit would neptune have according to Keplers harmonic law?

Kepler's first law says Neptune has an elliptical orbit with the Sun at one focus. The same goes for the other planets.

According to Keplers second law Pluto will be travelling fastest around the sun when?

... when it is closest to the Sun. (Kepler's Second Law)... when it is closest to the Sun. (Kepler's Second Law)... when it is closest to the Sun. (Kepler's Second Law)... when it is closest to the Sun. (Kepler's Second Law)

What do the length of the planets year and its distance from the sun have in common?

There is a relationship between the planets distance from the sun and the time taken for one orbit (planets year), described in Keplers third law. The square root of the time taken to orbit the sun is proportional to the cube of the average distance between the sun.

What does Keplers third law statement?

Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion:1] Each planet moves in an elliptical orbit with the sun at one focus2] The line form the sun to any planet sweeps out equal areas of space in equal time intervals3] The squares of the times of revolution (days, months or years) of the planets are proportional to the cubes of their average distances from the sun.

The third law involves direction!

Which of keplers laws states the planets move in an ellipse?

It is Kepler's first law which says the planet moves in an ellipse with the Sun occupying one focus and the other focus is vacant.
