The one story i herd about rivalry between them is the story of them and Athens, Cecrops was the king of Athens but he didn't know what he should call the little island so he asked both poesidion and Athena to both give a very valueable gift to Athens and he decided which one would be more valueable. Poeidion created a stream but the stream turned out to be salt water which is not very useful, but Athena created the first olive tree which was very useful and used by people all around the world to day.

Why did odyesseus blind Poseidon son?

- Odyesseus Blinded Poseidon son because odyesseus didn't like the way posidon and Athena was having problems with eachother . odyesseus also put a curse on Poseidon's son head . Poseidon was also mad because Athena had won the bet to become patron god of the city ! the curse lasted for 10 years , that's why odyesseus and Poseidon do not like eachother and Athena and Poseidon are always fighting :)

What would happen if Poseidon and Athena had kids?

In Greek mythology, Poseidon and Athena had one child together named Pegasus, who was a winged horse. If they had more children, they may possess a mix of attributes associated with the sea (Poseidon) and wisdom/battle strategy (Athena). Their offspring could potentially be powerful and skilled in both realms.

What is the relationship of Athena and Poseidon?

I think that they are rivals. They fought over which god would Athens be dedicated, so Zeus had them give the gifts. Athena was chosen. This generally, made Poseidon angry. Though you also have to take into account, that chariots were a work of the both of them. Poseidon created horses. And Athena created the chariot itself. Of course you could say since Athena is the goddess of wisdom that she just used what tools were most available and useful. These are my points on the matter. Someone else may have more proof. Or just a better understanding of Greek myths.

Why was Athena important to Athenians?

I believe Athena was important to the Athenians because she was the founder of Athens, her city in Greece (Now the capital). She was competing with Poseidon, the Greek God of The Sea and Earthquakes, on who should rule the city. So, they were each presented a gift for the city. Poseidon's Gift was a water spring, and Athena's gift was the Olive Tree. The people agreed that Athena's Olive Tree was better and helped the town more, so they names it after her. They worship her. That is also what created the rivalry between Athena and Poseidon.
