What was the solution in the book hatchet?

If i or somebody else had a situation like brians i will remmeber wat brian did and because of him I would be saved! Basically (and it's been a really long time since I've read this) it's about this boy who is flying in this two-person plane with a pilot to visit his dad?(not certain) and the pilot has a heart attack. The plane crashes in a lakes and the boy is stranded in the wilderness with nothing but a hatchet, which was given to him as a gift. He learns how to hunt/fish/search for wild berries, and becomes stronger because of it. In the end he gets rescued. I also vaguely recall someone getting struck by lightning.
