All the following text was not added by me, but there are 2 main answers:

1. the Universe is absolutely, resolutely infinite (it's hard to get your head round, I know).

2. the Universe is a certain size- although this is almost impossible, as the Big Bang would make it expand perhaps forever. 2 also could mean that there are many multiversesexisting beside our own, in sort of Universal bubbles, and there could be an infinite number of these multiverses. Anyway, enjoy the other people's answers.

At least 13.7 billion light years years to the edge. Double that for diameter. That's all we are able to observe at the present time.

Calculation by Inverse of Minimum LengthIt is commonly taught that the universe is infinite in size, that it is constantly expanding, and that its size cannot be known. How far is this in Light Years? 1 Light Year = 9,454,254,955,000 kilometers

= 9.454254 x 10 12 kilometres

(Line 8): Infinity = 0.6544306 x 10 19 light years

(Line 9): Infinity = 6.544306 x 10 18 light years,

or

approximately 6.5 x 10 18 light years

i.e. Infinity = 6.5 x 10 9 Gly (Giga Light Years )

To see it in perspective, it is 6 ½ Thousand Million Gly (Giga Lightyears).

In non-scientific terms Infinity:-

6 ½ quintillion light years (US),

or

6 ½ Trillion light years (UK etc)

(This depends on whether the US definition of a 'Trillion' as a million million or 10 12 , or

the British, French, and German definition of a 'Trillion' as a million million million or 10 18 is used.)

Either answer is the same. Since this measurement is independent of spectra or wavelength, it means any 'observable' or other self-imposed limits or flexible distances for the size of the universe are irrelevant . Some will deny this distance, but other distances are specious and many orders of magnitude too small.

Important:

Indeed any answer doesn't really matter because it still means the universe is actually a finite distance. The ramifications of this scientific discovery are absolutely mind-blowing: think of the universe as a three-dimensional flat-earth with God's heaven over the 'edge' on the other side but in another dimension which man cannot see. The finite size of the universe can be ignored, but it cannot now be denied as a scientific fact except for ideological reasons.
