West Baton Rouge Parish is primarily a rural parish with four small towns and a population of 21,717. We have the distinction of being the smallest parish in the state and are in south central Louisiana on the west bank of the Mississippi River, just across from the capital city of Baton Rouge.

There has been substantial development in the petrol-chemical industry, and four major plants line the Mississippi River. The total land area in the parish is 135,680 acres. There are some 40 farmers growing agronomic crops on 23,418 acres. Ranking the crops by acreage:
