If you are talking about electronics it refers to a type of transformer (or inductor) using metallic iron (usually in the form of thin interleaved laminations) core or armature around which the copper wire is wound.
If you are talking about the earth's geology it refers to either the solid inner core or the liquid outer core of the earth (which are actually composed of an alloy of nickel and iron).
The planet Earth has an inner core of solid nickel and iron, and an outer core of liquid nickel and iron. Although both of these cores are extremely hot, the high pressure on the inner core prevents it from liquefying.
The solid layer of the core is the lithosphere.
Scientists agree that the Earth's inner core is made of solid iron. The outer core of the Earth, meanwhile, is hot and molten.
This just means a wire with a solid central core, ie made from one solid length of copper or aluminium, as opposed to a wire made from many thin strands
The core of Earth
inner core
The inner core is an alloy of iron and nickel, and the outer core is mainly liquid iron and nickel. The liquid layer made up of hot liquid iron and nickel that surrounds the inner core.
The inner core.
The outer core of the Earth.
In general the inner part of the core of something. The core of the Earth is made mostly of iron and some nickel. The outer part of the core is liquid, the inner core is under such high pressure that it is solid.
the inner core is a solid. specifically solid nickel/iron alloy. the outer core is a liquid. specifically liquid nickel/iron alloy. both are composed of the same nickel/iron alloy. an alloy very similar to the alloy that makes up metallic meteorites.
the inner core
The inner core is an alloy of iron and nickel, and the outer core is mainly liquid iron and nickel. The liquid layer made up of hot liquid iron and nickel that surrounds the inner core.
That would be the inner core.
The inner core.
The outer core of the Earth.
The Earth's core is made of Iron and Nickel.
The inner core is made out of iron and nickel and it is a solid.
From outer to inner, the layers of the Earth are the Crust, a thin, rock layer, then the Mantle, the thickest layer of Earth, then the Outer Core, a liquid mixture of Nickel and Iron, and then the Inner Core, a solid ball of Nickel and Iron.
The spherical solid core of the earth. It is an alloy composed mostly of nickel and iron.
(Relatively) Thin outer layer, the Crust. Very thick inner layer, the Mantle. Mostly solid silicate rocks. Liquid inner layer, the Outer Core. Mostly liquid iron and nickel blend. Solid core, the Inner Core. Mostly solid iron-nickel alloy, and estimated to have a temperature of about 5700 Kelvins, or 5430 Celsius.
core
Outer core - predominately liquid iron and nickel. Inner core - predominately solid iron and nickel.
