The spanner warning light simply means your car requires a service. It is set to come on after a certain amount of mileage and is reset whist it is in the garage being serviced by the mechanic. You could try removing it yourself by using the following instructions, which may work depending on the year of your Polo. 1 - Ignition off press and hold trip meter reset
2 - Ignition on - continue to hold on trip reset button at least 10 sec
3 - Dashes appear on dash
4 - Ignition off
5 - light should no more be there!
