They believed that in the afterlife if their earthly remains were preserved for eternity, then their spirit would live on in the afterlife. They were buried with all their belongings because they believed they would need them in the afterlife.

∙ 14y agoThe Pharaohs were mummified because they believed that this would help them to have a better afterlife. Even after death, some connection was thought to remain between the body and the spirit, or the ka, as it was called in the Egyptian religion.
