What is the specific reason for pharaohs being mummified?

Ancient Egyptians mummified corpses to preserve the human remains. They believed that in the afterlife if their earthly remains were preserved for eternity, then their spirit would live on in the afterlife. They were buried with all their belongings because they believed they would need them in the afterlife.
