Sutherland Falls near Milford Sound are commonly called the tallest, but have three distinct leaps. In Doubtful Sound there are more than two falls that have higher total drops, but they have extensive breaks.
So a simpler Q may be which is the tallest single leap waterfall in New Zealand. Or you may wish to consider down to what gradient you would still call it a waterfall.
