I have a 1991 S10 Blazer as well... With the 4.3 liter V6, it can tow a 5000 lb trailer fairly easy when equipped with the 4 speed automatic transmission. HOWEVER, bear in mind that it is recommended that you should have the transmission in the regular Drive position AND not the Overdrive position--- as the transmission will constantly shift in and out of overdrive. On average, this will give you the ability to pull a 22' to 26' camping trailer with a tandem axle without too many problems.

When pulling this kind of weight with this vehicle, understand that the 1991 4.3 boasts a mere 160hp (underpowered by today's standards), and keeping in the right lane is the safest route of travel, and passing UPHILL is not an option to even consider.
