Heat is a form of energy. Atoms of a certain material begin to tremble very fast when heated and pass this movement on to other atoms. So I think -not shure, heat/ energy can only be passed through material, and so it is not possible in a vacuum.

Yes heat energy can pass through vacuum. Now a days "vacuum" has been renamed as "free space". Free space also is a medium but non material medium. Through this medium heat energy is transferred in the form of electromagnetic radiations.

Also the quantity of heat transfer depends on the type of process or path followed. So Heat Transfer is a path function but not a property(which is a point function). 📷 In case of properties, the difference in properties (here P2-P1 or V2- V1)between state 1 and state 2 always remains same irrespective of the path followed. So properties are called Exact Differentials or Point functions. But in case of Heat transfer and Work transfer, the quantity of heat and work transfer between state 1 and state 2 depends on the path followed. Therefore heat and work transfer are not exact differentials,they are Inexact differentials or path functions.
