∙ 15y agoAmoxicillin does not kill bacteria, but instead it prevents new bacteria from forming, thereby allowing natural healing to occur.
Amoxicillian works on a cellular level by binding to a receptor on the bacterial cell wall that is called a "a penicillin binding protein (PBP)". Once Amoxicillin binds with this protein the bacteria can no longer produce peptidoglycan which provides the cell wall with stability. Without the Peptidoglycan the cell wall collapses and breaks apart - therefore destroying the bacteria.
No new bacteria is formed, therefore your immune system can eliminate the bacteria that was already formed and you are healed.

It is usually the drug of choice within the class because it is better absorbed, following oral administration, than other beta-lactam antibiotics. Amoxicillin is susceptible to degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, and so may be given with clavulanic acid to increase its susceptibility (see below). It is currently marketed by GlaxoSmithKline under the trade name Amoxil." You should not self medicate with antibiotics because it is important to get the dosage correct - if you feel you need an antibiotic get it prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner (a doctor).
It is an type of antibiotic. But it is very harmful is you take it on an empty stomach

if by "ciprofloxacillin" you mean "ciprofloxacin" (check the name carefully), then most probably the answer is yes. they are both antibitoics but have two very different mechanisms of actions.
