6-25-11>>> It's likely a token or medal made in the 1960's from copper taken from the USS Constellation to help fund the restoration of the ship. As to a value? maybe $10.00.
How much is the coin worth
Yes and no. It really just depends on the coin and the method of mounting. If you have something in mint state, yes, mounting it is going to severely damage the value of the coin. If it is something like a well-worn Barber Half dollar and only worth its silver content, then no, it isn't going to impact the value at all. If you are soldering the coin in the bezel, that will damage the value of the coin a lot more than just one with clips that hold the coin into place.
£2,000,000
no, i don't believe so
The value of a coin can vary greatly depending on where you take it to be appraised as well as its condition. In general this coin is valued at between 5 and 10 dollars as of September 2014.
It is a medal, not a coin and they are valued from about $10 to $20.
worth$10-$15 A medal from the 1960's made from copper taken from the USS Constellation, a US Navy Warship dating from 1797. Its now thought the ship was rebuilt in 1854 with very little material from the original. It was struck to help fund an early restoration. The US Navy funded another restoration in the 1990's and the ship is currently in Baltimore Harbor.
Its value would depend upon which coin it was and its condition.
Please post a new, separate question with the coin's denomination.
You have described every British coin issued in 1797. Please provide the type of metal it appears to be made from, the diameter of the coin, the inscriptions and the design on the reverse.
It's not gold, it's brass, the 2007 date is on the edge of the coin and is just a dollar.
One dollar.
It's a novelty coin with no collectible value. Just like the 2 headed Kennedy half dollars
A US dollar coin dated 1797 is a Draped Bust dollar. If you actually have a dollar coin dated 1797, take it to a coin dealer for an accurate assessment. The coin is rare.
Authentic examples of the 1797 Draped Bust half dollar start at $15,000.00. Many copy's and replicas exist, so if you actually have this coin, take it to a coin dealer for an assessment to see if it's real.
The only US coin that has the dual-dates of 1797-1801 on the obverse is a 2007 John Adams Presidential dollar, the date and mintmark is on the edge of the coin. If you got the coin from a bank or change, it's face value. Only a proof or mint state coin will have a premium.
Please look at the coin again. No US quarters were struck in 1797 and the Washington series started in 1932. Post new question.
