UpdatedThese coins were struck in an alloy of 90% silver and 10% copper. In circulated grades their value is mostly determined by the price of silver bullion, which changes every day. To get an up-to-date approximation of the coin's metal value you can use a site such as coinflation.com, or look up the current price of 1 oz of silver and multiply it by 0.36

Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter. It may be blank or there may be a D or S.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 04/2012:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $16.68

Moderately worn - $17.54

Slightly worn - $17.77

Almost no wear - $19.80

Uncirculated - $45.60 to $8130.00 depending on quality

"D" mint mark (Denver):

Very worn - $16.68

Moderately worn - $18.30

Slightly worn - $18.54

Almost no wear - $20.50

Uncirculated - $43.20 to $2860.00

"S" mint mark (San Francisco):

Very worn - $16.68

Moderately worn - $18.30

Slightly worn - $18.54

Almost no wear - $23.50

Uncirculated - $69.60 to $1890.00

DISCLAIMER: The retail values quoted are the best available as of the date shown, but may vary significantly due to changes in the precious metals market. Also the wholesale (buying) price of a coin will be less than the selling (retail) price. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.

Answer1960 Franklin-Liberty Bell half dollar; As of 09/2008, about $7 in average circulated condition; proof coins are worth $8 to $30 depending on how well-struck they are.

As of 8-20-2011 The melt value of the coin is around fifteen dollars(silver was at 42$,so this wont be accurate for long).

AnswerThe price depends on how worn it is and how much silver is selling for. At $18/oz, a half dollar dated 1960 contains about $7 worth of silver.

Note that halves from 1965 to 1969 contain only about $3 worth of silver at that price, and halves from 1971 to today have no silver so they're only worth 50¢
