5-27-11>>> Assuming the coin is circulated, still in collectible condition and has no mintmark, the 1897 Morgan dollar is a high mintage common date coin, average retail values are $36.00-$44.00 depending on the grade of the coin.
Please check the date again. Peace dollars were first made in 1921. Check the back of the coin above the letters DO in DOLLAR for a mintmark. It may be blank or it may have a small letter. Please include this in your question.
8-7-11>>> Assuming the coin is circulated, the 1897-O Morgan dollar is a slightly better date of the series. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. Most coins have seen heavy use and show a lot of wear. In general retail values for low grade coins are $38.00-$40.00, better grade are $41.00-$45.00 and coins showing almost no wear run from $80.00-$250.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelry or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
Peace dollars were minted from 1921 to 1935.
Dollars dated 1878-1904 and during the first 11 months of 1921 are called Morgan dollars, after their designer.
Please check your coin again and post a new, separate question. The last circulating Peace dollars were made in 1935.
They stopped making the Peace dollar in 1935.
Peace dollars were not made in 1833.
The fact that the eagles wings are spread tells me it's a Morgan dollar not a Peace dollar. Value is $16.00-$25.00 depending on condition.
$27.
The last Peace dollar was issued in 1935 so it can't be a 1942 Peace dollar. Look at the coin again and post new question.
The is no 1921S Peace dollar; Peace dollars were not produced in San Francisco ("S" mintmark) in 1921. If your 1921 dollar coin is a Peace dollar, it was produced in Philadelphia and has no mintmark; if it has an "S" mintmark, it is a Morgan dollar produced in San Francisco).
No such coin exist, the term is Peace Dollar and a date is needed.
