Several American coins have buffaloes on them. The most famous is of course the original Buffalo Nickel issued from 1913 to 1938. You can find prices for this series at many sites; e.g. http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/prices/bufnkl/pricesgd.shtml

One word of caution - early-date Buffalo nickels had a design flaw that caused the date to wear off very quickly. If your coin is missing its date, unfortunately it's considered a "cull" and is worth maybe 15 to 25 cents as a curiosity.

A very modified version of the buffalo design was revived for a half a year as part of the 2005 commemorative "Westward Journey" series of nickels. Hundreds of millions of these were struck for circulation and are only worth face value.
