What is the value of a savage model 99f lever action rifle?
I have just purchased our 3rd savage 99F , they seem to hold at a value of around 350.00 to 450.00 depending on the wear and condition.
1960s. The Savage model 1899 rifle that was chambered in 303 Sav.caliber was made from 1899-1922.The model 1895 Savage lever action rifle in 303 Savage caliber was made from 1895-1899.The last rifle chambered in 303 Savage was the first model of the savage 99 rifle which was made from 1920-1936.The Savage 303 caliber rifles were not made after 1936.So your rifle was made sometime between 1895-1936.
The caliber marking on the barrel will prove that your Savage model 99 is chambered in 30-30 Win.The model 99 markings on the receiver/barrel will also indicate that you have a model 99 savage. Some 30-30 Win.chambered rifles by savage will be marked model of 1899,which indicates that you have the early model of Savage lever action rifle, made from 1899-1909.
Your model number should be posted on the rifle. If it has worn off do to age and handling then you have 4 choices.First if it is marked 30US.then you have a Model 1895 lever action rifle.Second if it is marked 30WCF,then you have a early model 1894 lever action rifle,or a model 55 lever action rifle.Last you could have a model 64 lever action rifle in 30-30 Win.
Your serial number indicates that your Savage model 99 lever action rifle was made in the year 1950.These lever action rifles are selling between 350-600 dollars, depending on overall condition, and a good bore. The more original finish remaining on your rifle the better,as this will bring the higher prices stated.
With the serial number that you have provided, you actually have a very Early made model 1899 Savage rifle chambered in 303 Savage. The serial number indicates that your rifle was made in the year 1900.The first model chambered in 303 Savage was the model 1895,but Savage only made 6000 rifles from 1895-1899.Your serial number precludes this model. They did not make a model 1893 rifle.
I'm not familiar with a "Winchester model 77". Is this a bolt action gun or a lever-action rifle? Winchester's famous bolt-action hunting rifle is called the Model 70. Their most famous lever-action guns are the 1873 and 1894 models. Ruger is a company that has a bolt-action rifle called the Model 77.
