The only British coin issued in 1805 was the gold Half-Guinea coin. A British 1805 Half-Guinea is considered to be extremely rare. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation.

Hibernia is the ancient name for Ireland. There are two possibilities, a Penny or a Halfpenny. The coins are just about identical other than for size, the Penny being larger.

Both coins have GEORGIUS III D:G REX. on the obverse and HIBERNIA and 1805 with a Crowned Harp on the reverse.

On the Penny, the tip of the laurel should be pointing to the first "I" of "III".

On the Halfpenny, the tip of the laurel should be pointing more to the second "I" of "III".

A Hibernia (Irish) 1805 copper Penny (KG III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £10 to £150 GBP.

A Hibernia (Irish) 1805 copper Halfpenny (KG III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £3 to £50 GBP.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation.

British 1785 gold coins were the Guinea and Half-Guinea coins.

The Guinea coin weighed 8.4 grams and was 24 mm in diameter.

The Half-Guinea coin weighed 4.2 grams and was about 20 mm in diameter.

A British 1785 gold Guinea (George III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £275 to £800 GBP.

A British 1785 gold Half-Guinea (George III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £190 to £675 GBP.

At worst, either can will realise bullion value.

NOTE - The reverse of these coins is upside down to the obverse. This is normal.

The values quoted are the best possible for the best specimens in their grades, but may be significantly lower due to varying demand for the coin and the prevailing economic climate. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.
