7-31-11>>> The coin is a PEACE dollar not a Morgan dollar dollar and assuming the coin is circulated, the 1927-S Peace dollar is a very common date. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. Most coins have seen heavy use and show a lot of wear. In general retail values for low grade coins are $37.00-$40.00, better grade are $40.00-$45.00. Coins with only slight wear run from $60.00-$100.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelry or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
Morgan dollars were struck from 1878 to 1904 & for the last time 1921, Peace dollars were struck from 1921 to 1928 and 1934 and 1935. Any MORGAN dollar dated after 1921 IS A FAKE, but it is possible the obverse die the coin was struck with had some type of damage making the last 1 in the 1921 date on the coin look like a 7. This does not add any value to the coin. As of today the Melt Value of the coin is about $20.00.
The US didn't mint any silver dollars from 1905 to 1920 inclusive.

First off, they are Philippine Pesos. Nothing special about them. They are now being called Territorial silver dollars as a marketing scheme. Most are worth only the silver value. If they are uncirculated they bring a premium. Check ebay, there are plenty for sale.
