Could be almost anything: temperature, time, day-of-week etc. Usually in an experiment you try to make sure only one influencing variable is being changed during measurements. That variable would be called the independent variable.

What is the single factor that is changed in an experiment?

the independent variable is the factor of an experiment that is altered in an attempt to understand its effects on the experiment's subject

Differentiate independent variables from dependent variables?

In a controlled experiment, the Independent variable refers to the variable that is manipulated or altered. The dependent variable, meanwhile, is the result of the experiment.

What is is a responding variable?

It means the factor that changes as a result of changes to the manipulated, or independent, variable in an experiment; also called dependent variable.

What does experimental variable mean?

It's the variable in an experiment that is being modified or altered. For example, if I compare two sunflowers to see which will last the longest and put one in the shade instead of the sun, that sunflower is the experimental variable because I altered it.

Why can there only be 1 altered variable in a controlled experiment?

i dont know it means what

Is the dependent variable or the responding variable the one being tested in an experiment?

Yes. The dependent variable is the variable that is being measured during the experiment.

What is an experiment in which only one factor is allowed to vary?

A valid one. An experiment cannot conclusively prove anything if more than one independent variable is altered at a time. That being said, many dependent variables could show change and the experiment would still be valid, as long as only one independent variable was altered at a time. An experiment that changes only one variable at a time is called a controlled experiment.

Is a variable a prediction that can be tested with a experiment?

No, a hypothesis is. A variable is the thing being tested in the experiment.

The variable being measured in an experiment?

Dependent variable

What is the variable that is changed by a scientist in a experiment?

The dependent variable is the variable that can change in an experiment.
