Possibly titanium, but I don't have a degree in science so if I'm wrong then don't blame me.
The heaviest element in the periodic table (known in March 2013) is ununoctium.
The heaviest alkaline-earth metal is radium. Radium is a highly radioactive element and is the heaviest and most unstable of the alkaline-earth metals.
Uranium is the heaviest naturally occurring actinide.
Bismuth (Bi) is the heaviest nonradioactive element but the next heaviest is Lead (Pb) and that is much more commonly used. The heaviest element that is naturally occurring, and also usable, though radioactive, is Uranium (U).
The heaviest gas at: 293.15º K is WF6, or Tungsten Hexafluoride.

previous answer: diamonds are not the heaviest mineral ...uranium is The original answer is correct... at first. But, though uranium is found in many minerals, it is not a mineral in and of itself. Even if it were, it would not be the heaviest in terms of weight for objects of equal size. Uranium is the densest element known to occur naturally on earth (a single study claimed to have found naturally occurring plutonium, which is denser, but that study is widely discredited and has never been verified), but weight is generally determined by specific gravity and not density. So, platinum is generally considered the heaviest mineral as it has a specific gravity of 20+. Diamonds are no where near the top of the list and have a specific gravity of 3.5, which is high for a gemstone (though not the highest), but not even close to the average metal. So, if you ever have the chance to hold a baseball sized diamond in one hand and a baseball sized chunk of pure platinum in your other hand, the platinum will weigh far more... and you'd have to be really strong to do it.
