It's still just called a bass in English, though for Opera there are different types for different types of roles.

Basso Cantante - higher and more lyrical

Hoher Bass - high, dramatic; can also be a baritone

Jugendlicher Bass - wherein the role of a young man is sung by a bass of any age

Basso Buffo - blustery, comic relief bad guys, also called a spielbass

Basso Profundo (lyric or dramatic)- the deepest, lowest bass there is, lyric tends to be sweeter, dramatic is loud and powerful
