The Antonov AN-225 Mira (Mriya) is the worlds largest airplane. It was developed to carry the Buran orbiter (Russia's equivalent to the US Space Shuttle). Based on the Antonov AN-124 it has increased engine capacity - six engines instead of four and a twin tail.

Only one aircraft is in service. Because of it's exceptional load capacity a second Mira was started but was later abandoned.

At the moment, it would be the Airbus A330.
The largest aeroplane ever made is the Spruce Goose.
