From the time when you swallow food to the time that you excrete it, the whole process can take anything from 24 to 72 hours. The digestive system varies from individual to individual and factors such as age, diet and lifestyle determine how long the process takes.

I think I heard it was three days, and I recall thinking that surely is not always the case... we all know there are times it seems it takes about two minutes. Someone else can probably answer better, but I'm almost sure it was 3 days.

The time between eating and excreting is called digesting. Your body takes everything it can use from the food. When it is finished is when the waste then exits the body.
