A 'Sharps' carbine (gun) used in the anti-slavery immigrants in Kansas circa 1856.
sharps carbine
These seem to sell for $400-$500, with a LOT of complaints regarding quality of workmanship. I have no personal experience with these, but if you are considering buying, you may want to do some research first.
Sharps Carbines were built from 1850-1875, while M1 Carbines were built from 1942-1945.Sharps Carbines were used until 1881 by the US Army, M1s were used until 1975.Sharps Carbines were single shot, while the M1 took a clip of bullets that carried either 10, 15, 30 or 60 bullets and either Semi-auto or full-auto.Sharps could shoot about 500 yards while the M1 shot 300 yards. The Sharps rifle is a very old gun while the M1 is way newer.
yes. They were used, not as much so as the Spencer, sharps or Burnside carbines, but they were used by the union army.
Depends on who made it.
The repeating rifle, the revolver, the Gatling gun, the breech loaded cannon, the breech loaded carbine (such as the Sharps).
2100 in fair condition. 4750 in excellent condition. That is for the carbine. The longer rifle....add 2000 to 5000 for excellent.
Plainfield carbines were a civilian version of the miltary carbine. Value is low, about $200.
