Singapore is a multi racial country and the general language used for communication among the various races is English. Hence most of the time, people just say hello (yeah, in English). Among the various racial groups, of course there are other ways to say hello in the different languages like Chinese, Malay and Tamil. It all depends on which language you want to speak in.
To say sorry in Malay you would say maaf. To say I made a mistake you would say, Saya telah membuat kesilapan.
