Albert Einstein went to collage for physics and then became a patent clerk in Zurich. He worked 6 days a week and could work on his theory of relativity along with doing this mentally unchallenging job.
Some words have specialized meanings in science which are not exactly the same as their less formal general usage; this tends to confuse laypeople. A lot. "Law" is used for ideas that can be expressed as a single (though possibly complicated) equation or statement, such as Newton's Third Law of Motion F = ma. "Theory" is used for ideas that are more intricate and do not reduce to a single equation, such as Einstein's Theory of Relativity. It does not mean "guess" (the science word for "we think this might be true, but we don't really know" is "Hypothesis"). In particular, while you might expect it based on other uses of the words, in science laws are not necessarily "better" or "more true" than theories. In fact, Einstein's Theory of Relativity provides a better description of the motion of a mass being acted upon by a force than Newton's Third Law of Motion does. Kinetic theory is not a single statement or equation (therefore not a law), but it does a good job of describing and predicting certain properties of matter (therefore not a hypothesis), so it's best called a theory.

"Scentist oviuosly" <---- I just had to keep this answer, because this person is an absolute idiot. Einstein was a patent clerk when he developed the theory of special relativity.

Albert Einstein job was to basiclly sign legal documents of scientists who had a theory for a scientific problem. Albert Einstein job was to basiclly sign legal documents of scientists who had a theory for a scientific problem.
The development of the General Theory of Relativity was not just a single effort. It was the combination of several things Einstein worked on. Einstein published his first paper on Special Relativity while working in the Swiss patent office. It may be assumed that he created much the theory while working there although he undoubtedly spent a great deal of time outside of work pondering on it and probably had been thinking of parts of it even before he took the patent examiner job.His work on General Relativity occured between 1907 and 1915 so he started it while working in Bern, continued his work while working as a lecturer at the University of Bern in 1908, then physics docent at the University of Zurich in 1909, then full professor at Karl-Ferdinand University in Prague in 1911, then he returned to Germany after being appointed director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physics and a professor at the Humboldt University of Berlin. It can therefore be said that he created the General Theory of Relativity step by step in Bern, Zurich, Prauge, and Berlin.Einstein published his first paper on General Relativity while working in the Swiss patent office. Albert Einstein's little sister Maria "Maja" Einstein did have a job. She was a doctor. She was married to Paul Winteler.
