Squirrel "tumors" During the summer and fall, St. Francis Wildlife receives a lot of calls about the "those hideous-looking tumors on squirrels." The lumps (Cutaneous warbles) are bot fly larvae developing under the squirrel's skin. Adult bot flies deposit their eggs near squirrel nests. The worm-like larva enters the squirrel's mouth, nose,or other opening and winds through the body to the skin. In three to seven weeks, the larva emerges from the skin and drops to the ground. Usually, the squirrelheals quickly. Bot flies do not infest humans in Florida.

It may not be a tumor. Squirrels may be parasitized by a type of fly called a botfly. The fly's eggs are deposited on the squirrel, and the hatching larvae burrow into the skin and develop into a large tumor-looking growth. See http://entomology.ifas.ufl.edu/slansky/botfly/
Just like in humans, tumors are caused by a random and uncontrolled reproducing of cells.
Tumors are actually quite common in guinea pigs, usually older ones, I believe. I doubt the tumors are always cancerous though.

Could be called hypertrophy, (that means overgrown tissue) or metastasized. Not sure if that just applies to cancerous tumors or not.
No. I never heard of a vocal cord transplant. There are tumors that can affect the vocal cords that do change the tone of one's voice.
As a polysaccharide, this glucan activates the white blood cells, called macrophages, which in turn devour microorganisms that produce disease, as well as tumors.
