It is Swai, a Vietnamese variety of catfish. It is very tasty, in my opinion. I had eaten Swai prior to having it at Captain D's and I like it. It has a very light texture and flavor. I saw some boxes being unloaded at my local Captain D's recently, and the boxes were clearly labelled Swai fillets.

There is no reason to believe that Captain D's fish is healthier than Long John Silver's. Both offer their main selections as breaded and fried, but both offer healthier choices that are not fried. Captain D's does offer a southern style breading, which may be a bit healthier than the regular breading on Captain D's or Long John Silvers fish.
