He was a good man and bad at the same time. In some ways he was good because when he had portrait painted he wanted it to be exactly like him "warts and all", this tells me he could be an honest man. There are many different opinions on Oliver Cromwell, some people thought he believed in giving people greater freedom. However others said he crushed anyone who disagreed with him!
