Lemurs have mostly been extirpated in the Central Highlands, although the used to be abundant there. They are also in serious decline everywhere else on the island.

Lemurs usually live high up in the trees, in search of food. Sometimes they live in pepper trees, or Euphorbia and Alaudia trees.
