It depends. Small animal vets work with the usual dogs, cats, rats, ferrets, lizards, rabbits, hamsters, birds, and mice. Meanwhile, a large animal vet cares for livestock breeds, including horses, cows, pigs, goats, and sheep.

There is/are no set "animal or animals" to study for Vet school. Below are some courses that can be taken at the University of Arizona as an undergraduate in preparation to apply for Vet school. As you can see, there are no specific animals to study with the exception of "Domestic Animal Anatomy" (Dog, cat, horse, cow) class.

Well, it depends on what kind of vet. Small animal vets work with household pets, such as dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters. Large animal vets work with animals your likely to see on the farm, such as horses, cows, pigs, etc. Equine vets deal with horses. Since horses have a different anatomy, physiology, pathology, and husbandry than other domestic animals, these vets are trained just for horses. Exotic animal vets deal with animals such as ferrets, small rodents, iguanas, turtles, snakes, and lizards. Avian vets work with birds. Normally you will see them working in private practices, zoos, or bird sanctuaries. There are also vets who work just cats; they are called feline vets. Cardiology vets study animal's heart. Dental vets work with animal's teeth. Marine vets deal with marine animal such as sharks dolphins and seal.

It depends on what region they work in. Some vets work with horses, pigs, cows and that type of animal, but some vets work with lizards, birds, cats, dogs, you name it. A vet is helpful to any animal owner.

The short answer is all of them. Most veterinarians, particularly in the United States, limit themselves voluntarily to domesticated mammals and generally just a few species of domesticated mammals (such as horses, cattle or cats). Some will also care for birds and reptiles. However, zoologic veterinarians care for all the animals in the zoo, marine veterinarians treat everything from shrimp to orcas, and there are veterinarians in research treating fish, frogs and Spiders.

All of them. A veterinarian will often see clients from all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and physical categories, and many times all in one day.
