Today most Chickasaw people speak English.
Historically they spoke Chikashshanompa’, called "The Chickasaw Language" in English. As of 2018, about 70 people still speak it.
It is a Native American language of the Muskogean family. It is agglutinative and follows the word order pattern of subject–object–verb (SOV). The language is related to Choctaw.
