Jack is a red head and has freckles. like the other boys he is around like 12-13jack is very rude. he is rude to piggy especially. Jack is also savage. as the book goes on, jack becomes obsessed with hunting and turns almost animal-like. he relates everything to hunting and on pages 61-62 is described almost animal like. he also becomes very violent- when Simon and him see pretty plants that look like candles (p.30) Simon describes them as beautiful, like candles, but jack slices them down. the next page, Jack sees a pig but cant get the guts to kill it, as we see later on in the book, time on the island has defenately enableed jack to kill pigs, and more as he hunts pigs later on in the book. also, Jack is very into-being in control. he thinks that he should be the leader of the tribe and when he isn't pronounced that he is upset and thinks that he should never be incarge of. he also wants to create rules and then have concequences showing how mean he is. he is mean to the littluns and just mean in genneral.
The first words of the book are, and I quote... "The boy with fair hair." Along with his fair hair you also learn that the boy has a tendency to stand on his head to express his happiness, pehaps due to an inabilty to express himself through words. There is also an impression of reserve about the fair haired boy, the fat boy offers information about himself but the fair boy does not.
At the begining of the book Jack leads a group of choir boys to the platform. When he realises that there are no adults he informs the assembled boys that he should be the leader because he is chapel chorister, head boy and he can sing C sharp. The boys in the choir obey Jack's orders even to the extent of voting for him. He seems to be arrogant, self assured, self important and aggressive. Essentially he is still the same at the end of the book except that he is no longer constrained by convention.
The second boy to be mentioned in Lord of the Flies is described as being shorter than the boy with fair hair and very fat. He wears a greasy wind-breaker and thick spectacles. He tells the fair haired boy, who is called Ralph, that his nickname at school was Piggy. He also tells Ralph that he suffers from Asthma.
Ralph is characterized as charismatic, fair-minded, and a natural leader. Throughout the novel, he demonstrates a desire to maintain order and civility among the group of boys stranded on the island.
He is older. Handsome. Nice. Athletic. Tall. Fair-haired. Civilized
