For one, all Americans are not narrow minded and to believe so means one is practicing their own form of narrow mindedness.
For two, the reason some Americans are narrow minded are similar or the same to what makes people of planet Earth in general narrow minded.
Most people of the world believe in things one way or another and don't like to be told they are wrong in thinking it; this can be because they've held on to these convictions for so long that changing them would mean learning something new and to them that may take too long, or it can be because it's been passed down to them and they don't want to let go of what they feel is tradition nor admit someone they know or love is incorrect on a subject. Yet another reason is because they just don't want to admit they've fallen for something that did them more harm than good.
