Foxes are opportunistic feeders, and they'll eat whatever they can find. This is why they are often seen as pests and there is a huge threat of them coming into human settlements to dig threw our garbage. This only aids in their ability to adapt. The vulpes

or red fox, is one of the most widely spread canines in the world, and you can argue that they are more adaptable then even the grey wolf.
