my mower intermitling smokes a white smoke and fouls the plug over time. is the rings stuck?? will marvel mystery oil in the gas and oil eventually free up the rings??? thanks ,porbet @ aol.com
White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.
If you mean a mixed gas and oil, it may not hurt the mower, it may smoke until this mix is used up. Some mower tanks are easily removed and you can drain the mixture before you use it.
Is your bike fuel injected, or more likely, does it have a carburetor? If it has a carb, are you turning the fuel off when you are not riding? If you're leaving it on, your carb could fill up with fuel while sitting, and then blow it out when you start. The same thing happens when I over-prime my lawn-mower.
A short circuit.
Is it a Craftsman? I have two of them and they are doing the very same thing. The carb is somehow allowing the gas to leak into the oil. When you start it up... does is smoke a lot? I fixed the issue by putting a on off valve in the gas line. Open it up when you are using the mower and turn it off when not in use. Problem was solved. However do check the oil occasionally
corsa 1.5 diesel lumpy at start up with white smoke from exhaust returning to normal after a couple of minuets
It is natural for fluid to seek its own level when a container is tipped. When you turn the mower "on its side" for blade removal/installation, do not turn it on the carburetor side - turn it to the oppsite side instead.
the smoke is probly actually blue but appears to be white blue colered smoke is oil burning after vehicle sits oil drips into the cylinders from the valve guide seals causing it to burn and smoke upon start up of vehicle
Possible that there is oil in your intake.
it is less likely to have cancer in one smoke.as it is addicted, you cannot give up smoke while you start!
It will hydraulic lock. This means that it will appear and feel as if it has siezed up but in fact it probably hasn't. To correct the problem you must drain the excess oil. Start by disconnecting the spark plug wire so the mower can't accidentally start up. Under the mower where the blade is you should find a plug going into the bottom of the motor. Remove that plug and drain the oil. Reinstall the plug and check your oil. fill only to the line on the dipstick. Reinstall the spark plug wire and your mower should start normally.
