Best Answer

"Kidney stones are made of salts and minerals in the urine that stick together to form small "pebbles."

Calcium stones are the most common type of kidney stone and occur in two major forms: calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate.

Uric acid stones form when the urine is persistently acidic.

Struvite stones result from kidney infections.

The kidney is made of a majority of cells called "nephrons". These are the basic cellular unit of the kindey. Nephrons filter out the toxins from the blood stream and produce urine. There are various chemicals that control the actions of the kidney. Some of these cause more of less water to be retained by the kidneys.

* Calcium, which accounts for nearly four out of every five kidney stones * Uric acid, which is when there is more acidic acid in the urine * Cystine, which are formed by cystinuria

* Magnesium ammonium phosphate, also called struvite. This is a sign of bacteria It must be treated as an infection. This type occurs mostly in women.

The kidneys are considered organs because they are collections of different types of cells with a specific arrangement that all work together for a specific function. In this case, you have nephrons made of differentiated epithelial cells working with neuroendocrine cells to excrete the correct amounts of electrolytes and waste products to maintain homeostasis.
