What mathematical formula is used to determine the distance from one base to another and also the distance between home plate and second base?

Pythagorean Theorem. We know its 90 feet between the bases, and

we know that you're describing a right triangle, so we can figure

the distance between home plate and second base as: 90^2 + 90^2 =

x^2 8100 + 8100 = x^2 16200 = x^2 127.29 feet
