I have been on Adderall for nine years and there really is no good answer to this question. The Physician's Desk Reference says 60 mg. per day is the maximum dose but that is not accurate. The problem is that from the first day you start taking Adderall, your brain begins the process of developing a tolerance to it. It does this by increasing the number of receptor sites on the post-synaptic side of the neural junction. As one's tolerance to Adderall increases, one needs a higher and higher dose to produce the same effects. Some people have gone to 120 mg. and even 200 mg. a day to obtain the same effects as when they started at 10 or 20 mg. per day. There are two major problems created as you keep increasing the dose of Adderall. First, the risk of significant cardiovascular consequences increases. Second, the more Adderall you take during the day, the lower you sink at night when the Adderall wears off and your body actually starts the beginning of withdrawal. At night you sink below what would be your normal mental levels. Therefore, in the morning, it will take longer for the Adderall to bring you to a satisfactory performance level because it has to take you from the valley it brought you into at night, to your normal performance level, and than to a satisfactory performance level. In short, the higher the dose, the deeper is the valley at night; the deeper the valley, the longer it will take in the morning it will take before a satisfactory performance level is reached.

In clinical trials with adults with ADHD, the most common maximum dose allowed is 60 mg/day; in children it is 30 mg/day. It's important to use the dose recommended by your doctor; this is the dose that she/he believes provides the best symptom control.

Taking too high of a dose can be dangerous - look for symptoms like agitation, aggression, mania, insomnia, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, rapid breathing, feelings of panic, even hallucinations. With severe overdosage, death can occur.

The most common "maximum" dosage given is 60mg. Addiction would be individual. If you take your prescribed dosage the "high" will wear off but the benefits of adderall will still be there no matter how many years you have been taking it.

Can you take Darvocet 24 hrs after taking an adderall xr 20 mg?

Yes. Adderall is stimulant and Darvocet is an opiate. They can safely be taken together without waiting 24 hours. When to administer Adderall?

The "straight up" (legal) answer would be: Administer Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts or MAS) only to the person to whom it is prescribed, exactly as prescribed. Adderall is a "schedule II" drug, and as such, it is illegal for anyone to take or possess it if it is not prescribed to them unless that person is responsible for administering it to a minor prescribed the medication.

What would happen if you take two adderall pills 20 XR at the same time i am 90-100 plus pounds?

That's 40 Mg's which is really not that much. It has different affects depending on each individual person. Adderall doesn't have too much of an effect on most people. You will probably react with a loss of appetite and you'll get very hyper.
