Anything larger than a millimeter and shorter than a couple of meters.

It also depends on the kind of profession you are in.

Metal workers basically use millimeters, so they would use 980 mm instead of 98 cm.

Wood workers like to give measures in cm, they would say 45.5 cm instead of 455 mm (Millimeters).

one mm = 0.1 cm

one cm = 0.01 m

You could measure the length/width of anything you wanted using a centimeter! You just have to be realistic. You wouldn't measure the height and width of Mount Everest using a centimeter, would you? So I assume you're asking what would you measure realistically using a centimeter.

You could measure:

A coin (penny, nickel, dime, etc)

A pencil

A pebble

A finger nail

There are many things. Basically just anything that is smaller than (or in and around) a meter. So nothing as large as a kilometer, please :D
