shait the season of inundation when the flooding occurs
june =)
The flood affected the harvest season because if the flood took too long to dry then then there would be a delay in the seasons.
In ancient Egypt, new soil, known as "black silt," was laid down on the fields during the annual flooding of the Nile River. This typically occurred during the months of July and August, coinciding with the flood season. The floodwaters brought rich sediment that replenished the soil, making it fertile for agriculture.
The Nile, and its annual flood, was very important as Egypt has so little rain. In ancient times the flood happened as the snow melted on mountains in Africa and flowed to the sea, through Egypt. The mud that was left by the water put goodness back into the land and helped the crops to grow. Modern Egypt has dams so the Nile does not flood any more. The two main farming seasons in ancient Egypt were the Akhet, which was the flood season that lasted from July to November when the Nile River flooded and deposited fertile silt on the land, and the Peret, which was the planting and growing season that lasted from November to March when crops were planted and grew in the fertile soil left behind by the flood.
When the Nile flooded in ancient Egypt, it provided their farmland with water and nutrients. The ancient Egyptians considered the annual flood to be a good thing because it supported life.
