I suppose the difference was that the French revolution overthrew its own monarchy whereas the US revolution overthrew a 'foreign' government. Yes, I refer to us, the British ! You owe us oodles in back taxes ! lol (And for anyone who hasn't noticed I am being flippant. Please don't take offence.) So the French instance was internal as opposed to the removal of an exterior monarchy & government.
