Charged particles, such as electrons, move in a current. These particles flow through a conductor, like a wire, in response to an electric field. The direction of the current is conventionally considered to be from the positive terminal to the negative terminal, although in reality, it is the negatively charged electrons that are moving.

But we commonly refer to current as flowing from positive to negative (as if there were positive charge particles moving).
